Part 09 — Commerce
Tips Policy
Tips let visitors directly support the creators they love. Here is everything you need to know about how tips work, what they are, and what they are not.
What is a tip?
A "tip" on LinkStacked is a voluntary, discretionary monetary payment made by a profile visitor ("tipper") to a creator, processed via Stripe. Tips:
- Are not a purchase — the tipper does not receive any product, service, or guaranteed deliverable in return
- Are not a donation to a registered charity or non-profit (unless the creator has explicitly confirmed this and has the appropriate legal status)
- Do not create any ongoing relationship, obligation, or entitlement between the tipper and creator
- Are processed in the currency displayed on the creator's profile at the time of payment
Finality & no refunds
Because tips are voluntary payments with no associated delivery obligation, they do not qualify for our standard refund process. The only exceptions are:
- The tip was made fraudulently without your authorisation (contact your bank to file a chargeback)
- You were demonstrably deceived through fraudulent misrepresentation by the creator — in which case contact us at legal@linkstacked.com with evidence
- A technical error resulted in duplicate charges — contact us within 48 hours at legal@linkstacked.com
If you believe you were deceived or manipulated into sending a tip, contact us immediately. We take tip-based fraud seriously and will investigate and enforce against the creator account.
Platform role
LinkStacked facilitates the tip transaction between tipper and creator but is not a party to it. We:
- Process the payment through Stripe on behalf of the creator
- Deduct our platform commission before transferring funds to the creator's Stripe account
- Send a payment confirmation email to the tipper (if an email address is provided)
- Are not responsible for how the creator uses the tip funds
Prohibited uses of tip functionality
Creators may not use the tip feature to:
- Solicit tips through false emergency claims, fabricated hardship, or manufactured emotional manipulation
- Promise goods, services, or exclusive access in exchange for tips (that is a product sale — list it as a product)
- Collect tips on behalf of another person, charity, or organisation without their written authorisation
- Create fake urgency or artificial scarcity to pressure visitors into tipping
- Use tip proceeds for activities prohibited under these Terms or applicable law
- Mask regular product sales as "tips" to avoid applicable taxes or avoid our commerce commission structure
Creator obligations
Creators who accept tips on LinkStacked must:
- Accurately represent themselves — tippers should know who they are supporting
- Declare tip income on their tax return as applicable in their jurisdiction
- Not withdraw tip funds that are subject to a chargeback hold or fraud investigation
- Respond to platform inquiries about tip activity within 5 business days
Information for tippers
Before you tip, please understand:
- You are supporting a creator, not making a purchase. No product or service is guaranteed.
- Tips are not tax-deductible donations (unless the creator is a registered charity in your jurisdiction).
- Verify the creator's identity before tipping large amounts — we cannot recover funds sent to fraudulent accounts.
- If a creator promises something in exchange for a tip, ask them to list it as a purchasable product instead.
- You can send tips without creating a LinkStacked account. The email you provide (if any) is used only to send a receipt.
For concerns about a creator's tip page, use the Report button on their profile or contact us at safety@linkstacked.com.
